It all comes down to this....
If you're just inquisitive, then fine: ask away. However, you don't get the right to judge the person you asked. They were honest enough and open enough with you to answer, so you need to be accepting and get on with your relationship.
If you find that you cannot do so, you really need to stop asking these sorts of questions of future partners - I say "future" because you probably won't be able to survive this one if you can't get over it.
Anti-fishstick and the rest have a valid point. It's all in the past. What's truly important is that the person you're with is with you and ONLY you - and so long as you're keeping that in mind, you'll do just fine.
