If you look to the left of this post, you will see my avatar (Stewie from the Family Guy).

I took a screenshot and then copied the color of TFP, so that I could use it as the background color for my new avatar. However, it seems that TFP variates the "shade" of green used for each reply, so it seems I will have to make the background of my avatar transparent so that it will look right ("clear") regardless of what the background is.

Does anyone know how to make an image/background transparent? I have Paint Shop Pro, and only do basic things with it..

For those of you that do know, do you think you could explain what I need to do in order to make the background of my Stewie avatar transparent?

I realise someone could just do it for me (and that would be appreciated as well), but I figure I might as well make a learning experience out of this if at all possible.

Any help/advice with this would be greatly appreciated, as it is something I have been wondering how to do for awhile, and have never really taken the time to learn.
