You are so correct.
I fly a lot on business, and as long as I have my wallet, I am very well armed. I always place a credit card in my shirt pocket while I'm on a plane, and I always also make sure to grab a pillow and blanket, as a defensive measure.
You can do the same thing with laminated drivers licenses or even photographs.
