1) Get the most updated driver from their site. Don't even fuck with the ones that come with the card. I have a different ATI card and used the drivers that came with it and they caused my system to crash for no reason at all. I got rid of them and installed the latest drivers and have never had a problem since. This may not happen to you, but I wouldn't risk it.
I'm not exactly sure about your other questions and I don't have the time to look anything up at the moment so I won't comment on them.
