I'm pretty lenient, especially after reading Nickeled & Dimed. They are definately going through hell back there.
Personally, I'd prefer it if the prices for the food already included enough for the servers to receive an actual salary, and tips would be just if people felt like it. I mean, I don't tip the people at the movie theatre or the clothing store.
But, that's not the way the USA operates, so I default to 20% unless something has gone horribly wrong, and the fault lies with the server.
