I was looking for an alternative too... I used Outlook and I have to admit I loved it. I may go back.
Until Mozilla gets its calendar matured, Palm Software is the best. I thought you had to have a palm pilot... but you don't. The software runs buy itself, and is pretty good for outlook-type scheduling. Just go to palm.com to d-load.
