The first place I hit after I get network connectivity back up is the <a href="http://gnuwin.epfl.ch/en/index.html">GNU II site</a> (or I pull out the CD they've released and start installing.
I usually install a LOT from there.
Filezilla
Dia (UML and ERD diagramming tool)
NetHack
CDex
Then I move on to EditPlus, Trillian, MSN Messenger (why not use Trillian for that too? My wife is used the MSN messenger and can't figure out Trillian)
and a few other games.
