I think "The Stranger" is just a movie urban legend. Sitting on my hand didn't work. Usually my hand/arm/other limbs have to be uncomfortably posed to make them fall asleep. And besides, once it's asleep, you have no control over it - how you gon' stroke it when you can't even grip it?
