That's pretty sad. This forum, aside from one or two folks that the mods slap down, is not like that. In fact, our mods generally do a wonderful job of keeping ideas and opinions in the mix while keeping insults and personal attacks out.
Speaking as someone who has immigrated to a new country, I'll give you a little practical advice. The longest route is to marry someone there. The shortest route is to get hired by a foreign company. In either case, you should realize right now that it's a whole `nother country, really and for true. I thought Canada was like The US, Jr. until I -got- there and found that I had no idea what half of their common cultural references meant. I'd never (and still haven't) eaten at a Tim Horton's. I never watched Rocket Robin Hood as a kid. I didn't get "burnt toast". I didn't know jack.
There is definitely culture shock. If you're serious, be prepared. I'm just glad that these days, I can listen to "Living In America" by James Brown and actually be living in America.
