If they were throwing rocks at and killing endangered species, then yes, they should be punished. Baseball players (and all athletes) are in the spotlight constantly, so it is only fitting that if they break rules/laws they should be punished. Everyone that breaks laws should be punished, it's just a matter of who witnesses the crimes.

If he was hitting endangered species with his truck intentionally, then yes, I would argue he is a criminal in the same sense that the player above is.
I look down on people that abuse animals, so I am abviously biased, but then again so is everyone. This guy was in the spotlight, and he did something stupid and that the judge ruled was a second-degree misdemeanor. Whether that is right or not is debateable, but it is what the ruling was.
Am I in support? Sure am. I am almost always in support of rulings that help cut down on needless abuse or killing of animals.
