Yeah, the Clapton album I'd nominate is that Bluesbreakers one (John Mayall w/Eric Clapton).
Allman Brothers Band at Fillmore East is another very good "guitar" record that comes to mind...
And as for Elvis being up there. Well I haven't heard that album but I have a pretty good idea that his guitar player, Scotty Moore (thanks google) was fricking underrated. Plus he was standing in one real big-headed shadow...
