Car wise - most of the other posts have covered it. Hondas and Toyotas will last you a lifetime, but they are dull, pretty drab cars, IMHO. I wouldn't _avoid_ American cars, but certainly research and drive each car you are considering. I don't know much about banking, so talk to your loan guy, I guess. Good luck!
