That's great, I'm going to quote that a lot. It fits nicely with my other pet statistic, "remember *half* of the population is below average"
On the topic of the thread its a distribution problem. Sort of like with food/starvation. We (the world) produces about 115% of the food necessary to feed all the people alive. Much of it ends up rotting. Why? Because sufficient resources does not imply decent distribution. In particular if there is power to be gained thru messing with the distribution people will block each other. There is a lot of power to be gained thru sex and bonding, Further, Not all matches will work, compatibility issues are rife. Oh and some people like variety/excitement, which totally farks up the people who are looking for dependability.
The good news is that computers are *great* at solving distribution problems. I expect that as dating services become more and more acceptable the distribution problem will be handled better. That said I don't think it will ever get better than a 20% failure rate.
