Well, I'm sitting here at
ISO New England where they're trying to get a handle on it. I just passed around that article, which was news to people here.
We're the ones who regulate (in the sense of "so much power is going to be needed
there at
this time of day via
that transmission line) the power grid in New England.
Whatever is going on is not
due to us, but we're on it just in case there's something we can do. That's why I'm on TFP so much: most of the time, everything's working so I don't have to do much.
All computers I administer are on large UPSs. I don't
do sudden shutdowns.
WRT the Official Situation, if y'all check out the web sites of the equivalent ISO companies in NY and such, you'll see REALLY LOW numbers. We even found a negative one.
