As a fellow bender I gotta say that it has nothing to do with the underwear choices you have made. I wear boxers and have for many years but I curve down a little and I always have. It in my case appears to be caused by either the amount of skin removed from the underside of my penis during circumcision or just a natural difference in the amount of skin I have above and below. There is just less skin to expand on the underside so it causes a slight downward curve.
If it is a minor curvature you shouldn't worry and most girls won't notice / care at all. It it is a 10-15 degree curvature or more, then you should play up your strengths in bed (use the curve to you advantage) by using positions that stimulate the G-Spot or use the outer edge of the curve to stimulate her clit. After proper use of your curve most women will appreciate it. It is is a sharp hard angualr curve to one side or the other or more then 30-40 degrees or so then you may want to consult your family doctor or some other physician. It IS possible to break the penis.
While this is rare and probably NOT your case (you would know... there is substantial pain associated with this kind of event) it is possible to fracture the tissue membrane around the corpa cavernosa. The corpa cavernosa are the areas in the penis that fill with blood and create the erection. If an erect penis is thrust with enough force into an imovable object (a pelvic bone for instance) it is possible to cause tearing which is usually accompanied by a lot of pain and a sharp bend as one of the corpa cavernosa quickly "deflates".
This is a medical emergency and needs to be looked at immediately. Like I said, this is probably not your situation, or if it was you would know because one half of your penis pretty much wouldn't get hard anymore and an erection would be accompanied by intense pain and possibly bleeding from the urethra.
