Seeing as how the question is answered, I won't really put in my 2¢ since it's already been said, but I would like to comment on the quote I chose here. Contraceptives and disease warding are mostly two different things. Most forms of birth control (a.k.a. contraceptives) don't protect you at all from STIs. The few that do are things like (male and female) condoms and dental dams, and their purpose is prophylactic whereas birth control is not.
Getting tested won't prevent her from getting pregnant. Using ortho-tricyclen won't ward off AIDS or HPV. However, using condoms/protective gear will prevent you from getting STIs.
I'm nitpicking here and I apologize for it.
