You have to consider, Superbelt, what happened to his party in '96, and wonder how much of an effect he would have in the coming contest.
On the other hand, the federal deficit has (in real dollars if not as a percentage of GDP) has surpassed the worst of Bush I and the Gipper, so his populist message could gain traction.
Best to look at him as the counterbalance to any remaining green sentiment which will be expressed in '04, I would say.
