When TFP first started up, I opted to subscribe (get email notices) to most of the threads I started up/replied to.
Very shortly I discovered that with a site like TFP (as many users/replies), I am getting lots of email (20+ messages). I have since stopped subscribing to threads, but I still get email notices from threads I started on day one.
Do you opt to subscribe to threads, or do you just manually check threads throughout the day?
