Maybe your funnel in the jar technique needs a little help. Let's start from the beginning.
Get a large paper dixie cup and fill with rottable fruit pieces. Orange juice works, so do bannanas. Cover the cup with saran wrap and seal with a rubber band. Make an indentation in the saran wrap so that it goes about 1/3 of the way in the cup and then place a small hole in the center of the saran wrap. Give that version a try and don't forget to place TONS of them in your house.
