Ah, but what about the other way around? Do previous books acknowledge or even accept the newer ones? No, they don't, do they?
Examples of essential conflicts:
Either Jesus is the messiah (Christians), or he's not (Jews, Muslims). Either Muhammed is God's prophet (Muslims), or he's not (Christians, Jews)...
