Stargate SG-1 if you get the Sci Fi channel. It is the best sci-fi show ever. Like most sci-fi though, you need to watch it all from the beginning to actually know what's going on.
Family Guy on Cartoon Network (i think that's the channel) is hilarious.
Skip the reality TV stuff, its like 99.5% extreme crap.
