Not all scriptures claim to be the direct word of God... Sikh scriptures, for example, were written piecemeal over a few centuries, by the Gurus, bards, and certain poets. Hindu scripture, as well, deals with supposed divine stories but is known to have been written by men.
The scriptures of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are in fact not in conflict. Each successive book acknowledges the existence and legitimacy of its forebears.
