It's amazing how many people who work in the more "premier" forms of retail don't understand that.
I once had an amp that had accident (vase of water...) and was looking to get it repaired; went into one of the audio shops.
Now, my amp was a little low-end NAD unit, and it turned out these guys only sell Marantz and a few other, similar bits and pieces. They obviously saw themselves as a cut above, because while they were good enough to tell me where the local NAD dealer was, as I walked out of the shop, one of the guys on the counter snidely added, "Come back when you're ready for some real equipment."
I've averaged about $2k a year on component audio for the past 6 years since that incident. I've never spent a penny at that store, and I never will.
