Those are rounded numbers. He's just saying that he gained 1/8th of an inch. In PE, gaining an inch a year is considered to be solid gains. So, measuring from week to week, most practicioners will try and read the ruler down to 1/8ths or 1/16ths of an inch. Like I said, it's slow. It takes dedication. If you're not already obsessed with it, don't be. Like you said, you can make your wife come, and that's what counts.
The (excessively?) precise measurements are part of the exploration. Everybody's hoping to find the magic method that generates results more quickly than the excrutiatingly slow pace that we learn to accept. If somebody could reliably gain an 1/8th of an inch every two weeks, they'de have sped the process up by a factor of 3. Watching for such gains and comparing routines to find the elements that actually are causing the growth are a big part of the PE community.
