Excellent post. Thank you. My comment is direct at the info I quoted above.
It seems to me that Sony has done quite well with certain markets in branding themselves as great electronics at whatever the price. Some people think Sony consumer electronics are just the best. Personally? I'll take Panasonic at 20% less, but that's me. Many many folks think Sony da bomb.
Maybe they aren't so far off in trying to make a multiplatform entertainment device. If they could sell you their display, amp, speakers, console, computer, whatever we will find integrated into any public room of the future...maybe they have something there.
