We've all seen James Bond shoot a harpoon gun above water, one-handed, then go back to makin' time with his sweet lady. But, that's quite impossible. Sure, go ahead and make your "it's just a movie!" reaction. Done? Good. I have to agree with hrdwareguy entirely. Those things kick like a good shotgun, but can be delightfully effective under the water. Some other interesting pneumatically-fired guns appeared in the Jules Verne novel, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Of course, they weren't using harpoon guns (like in the movie with Kirk Douglas), they used air-rifles that fired glass spheres containing an electrically-charged substance. You can imagine what that would do to the nervous system of an undersea creature; after all, Nature designed the electric eel for just this same effect. Frankly, I like Verne's weapon better than conventional harpoon guns. The only trick is to create the electricity-storing goo. See, if you can stun/shock/kill the critter without bloodletting, you won't attract that "mangling aquatic life" that j8ear was so wise to mention. Props, buddy.

Have a great day, all--and enjoy your new toy!
