Actually, I've seen SLC Punk, and it's a great movie. You're right, now that you mention it, they kinda do seem more like posers trying to live the 'punk life' rather than actually doing it because they feel any sort of desire to change the system. They seem to live the life of the parties and loose relationships without the views on society.
Lets see if I can't rephrase my question a bit.
I'm not blaming the music but,
Does it affect their decisions in any way (i.e. they "try to be punk") or is it people who have that kind of lifestyle are attracted to punk music because of the message it can be seen to give.
As a side note, does it seem ironic to me that the punk culture is now popular?
