Well Mage is alot tighter now than 1st edition, the rules are alot more well defined. Although its still very loose, and it still suffers from the same problem high level D&D does - if you have 5 dots in a sphere, ANY sphere really, you're damned near invincible. It takes alot of dedication and a REALLY sharp GM to run but I still love it. I'm a big fan of freeform magic in fantasy games. Infact the only game with a better magic system is Ars Magica.
My only problem is, WW screwed up the setting with 3rd edition (as they did with ALL their 3rd edition games IMO). The group I play WW with tends to ignore whatever plot they put out, but other groups sometimes see that as sacrilige
