I don't see any problem in giving a hurricane a "black" name. It does kind of fly in the face of the trend of removing 'black' or phrases that sound "black" from common saying with negative connotation (black market, etc...)
Although as a whitey, I'm entitled to my one consipiracy theory, and mine is that a there is a secret council of minorities that tracks the use of all offensive terms and as a great joke, makes every sensitive term offensive as soon as it has replaced the previous offensive term.
My dream is to come up with a universal inflection system that can be used with every term to denote respect, indifference, mockery, threat, etc... Think of all the arguments we could avoid.
