I liked it because of Anderson's abstract minimalist direction. Magnolia was the kind of three hour sellf indulgence I thought was reserved only for Oliver Stone. And I thought P.T. Anderson had unfortunately gone the way of Ken Russel. Then this came out and suprised me. Really I'd highly reccomend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it.
