USA of 2003 is not germany of 1939...there are some surface comparisons, but i can't stress enough how much the climate was different. The versailles treaty, the failures of the wiemar government, the great depression, hyper inflation...these are all things that are very differnt. And whatever goering said, it's not true. Vietnam is case in point...no matter how hard the establishment yelled about patriotism and the communist menace, it failed to keep the people in line, and public support for the war was lost.
As i said...good point, but you make it with very loaded terms.
