I agree with Art on this. A good supervisor knows his/her employees and knows if "Jack" truly deserves the credit.
As well, if this happens often and with other people taking the credit, I would suggest that the person being denied his or her due credit learn to become more assertive. It seems this person is viewed as a doormat by his or her co-workers.
