many of the swords in LOTR have names....
Frodos sword given by Bilbo was named Sting
Gandalfs sword was named Glamdring
the sword that cut the ring from saurons finger had 2 names... one before it was broken... and one after it was reforged... before it was broken it was named Narsil (i have a replica of this one) and i dont know what the name was after it was reforged...
in many fantasy books its common for a sword to be named... i dont know if they really did that a long time ago or not...
