Who cares where a car company's headquarters are located? I mean, some Toyotas are made in the us, I think some hondas are too, alot of GMs are made in Canada, and bunches of Fords and most VWs are made in mexico. So does that mean you have to buy a Honda or Toyota to get a car made in the US?
Anyways, domestics have made very big strides in quality (as have most other companies), so really there's not a whole lot of difference, it all just comes down to personal preferrence. Whatever you do however, when it comes to buying your next car, drive a couple different ones from different manufacturers. Take the ones that you like driving, go look up what previous owners say about them on the net (not just biased reviews), and then decide.
If you do decide to go with a GM/Ford/Dodge 'domestic' then you will most likely end up paying less for the car than an equivalent import, you may get a better warranty, and repair parts will almost certainly be cheaper than the 'import' brands. That's about the only real difference left.
