My motherboard (Abit KR7A), by default, considers my processor to be a 1500+ (the first AthlonXP chip, I believe). From there, I have to set it to the correct CPU. Just go into your BIOS and see if there's a list of CPUs so that you can select the one you have.

If so, set it. Otherwise, check (as said above) the FSB multiplier to make sure that's set properly.
