If you know anyone that's a good artist, sit down with them with a few books and beere togo over the idea with them. You'll come up with something to take to your tattoo artist that you'll be happy with for the rest of your life.
From original work, it'll really suck if you see someone with an identical tat. A friend of mine went to a tat place to get a piece done that she drew up herself. Really cool and funky...the next summer we saw the EXACT same tat on someone else. Ugh.
