Actually, if you buy Antenna and watch the DVD, then they tell you. They wanted to concentrate on the vocals more and make it a larger part of their music. Also, they were tired of being lumped into the hardcore genre with shitty bands, which I can't blame them for, because there are some really shitty hardcore bands out there.
Personally, I like this sound better, mostly because it's harder to find a similar sound, as opposed to the dime a dozen sound they used to have. More original.
