Just to add my two cents. Neverwinter Nights is a great option, as mentioned above. The expansion pack adds even more fun

Icewind Dale 2 is also a great option.

For Planescape: Torment, I have run into people who don't like the massive amount of reading. Myself, I loved the game and its story and development. However, just a warning that if you don't like reading a lot in RPGs, it may not be right for you. I highly recommend it though.
