Early 90's and I was driving my '76 Jeep CJ-5. I hit an on-ramp going a tad fast, and hit the brakes. Nothing scary mind you, just prudently slowing down. I hear a 'pop' (brake line) and left side front brake totally locks. My front end dips and slews to the right and the jeep starts spinning. I remember nothing of the actual accident, but a witness behind me said that the Jeep cartwheeled along the guardrail 4-5 times.
I come to with the Jeep laying on the left side with my body completely rigid (adrenaline). No injuries. I put my hand down to brace myself to be able to get out of the vehicle and wind up putting it into a pile of broken glass from the mirror. So I rolled the vehicle multiple times and walked away with a cut on one finger and some seriously pulled back and shoulder muscles.
The best part was that everyone behind me was in shock, that I survived, over the accident, etc. So I had to mobilize people to get the stupid Jeep turned back on its' wheels and out of the traffic lane. My Dad and I rebuit said Jeep and still have it. Great vehicle.
