Thanks for the advice on the Boson tests - I grabbed the freely available ones and did took those - scored fairly well, about 70% (not bad for not knowing IOS and a few other parts).

Some of the Cisco sales offices used to let people drop by and play with their lab equipment once a week. You might try to find out who your local rep/SE is and ask if they still do that.

I've heard that there's now a router/switch configuration lab simulation on the test, so it would be to my benefit to know as much as possible. I'll check see if any local Cisco places do anything like that - thanks for giving me the idea.
