Also, the Sun SPARC computers, which have been around for years, had 64-bit processors, although Apple would say that they are not "personal computers", despite the fact that you can buy an old one very cheaply. But does Windows run in 64-bit mode with this AMD processor? For the Sparc, yes it was 64 bit, but until Solaris 8 came out, it was still a 32-bit OS. And you couldn't do just an upgrade to Solaris 8. It had to be a fresh install.
