Actually, I think the term refers to the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy here. As a 3rd generation immigrant family kiddo, I doubt most people really know what it means, but I'm sure there's plenty of people living in some piece of shit foriegn country wishing to come to our country for a job and a sense of stability.
