Okay, I'm a rookie who has only made a handful of posts. I like this forum, and I'm impressed by the way it is run. But isn't there a fundamental flaw in judging someone's "value" to a community by how much they "talk" (post)? Not even how much, but how often!

I'm more the kind of person who only speaks when I have something to say. In fact, I get very irritated by people who seem to think that their opinion carries more weight if they voice it often enough or loudly enough.

I didn't even know about this system of perks for posts until now. It is very clever and well intentioned but I think it just encourages people to talk a lot, rather than say something meaningful.

I don't have any idea how it could be done better, I guess I'm just feeling like a wallflower at a frat party. Sorry if I rambled.
