Nah - you could do it in an hour or less if you had an mpeg handy of the scene. There are a lot of tools out there that'll convert a still frame to its ascii art representation, so it's just a matter of capturing enough frames and converting them - you could probably batch 'em all up and get it done pretty quickly.
Still, looks cool and it's a neat scene to do that with.
