I know of a fellow who donated his entire family fortune to funding an organization that he created with the intention of making a difference. It's still going strong. He had the best answer when they asked him why.
He said "Because it is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness".
The right attitude, whether he was able to make that difference or not.
