What are some of your thoughts on obscenity laws in the states? What do you or dont you agree with? Do you think that pornography, and the easy access of it, degrades the eros relationship between people?

well i did a report for this on school on an anti-censorship stance. i believe it is not the porn industry that is a problem. people concentrate so much on sex abuse, rape, etc. we live in a sex negative society who in turn views pornography as something that should be censored or simply even drop off the face of this earth. but porn has been around since antiquity. look at baroque and renaissance paintings. lots of nude women. nude statues were found in the dig up of pompeii. etc. it wasn't until the popular invention of the camera that porn really started to pick up. i think porn should be celebrated, as well as sexuality. we live in such a hush-hush society where we don't teach kids about sex ed until HIGHSCHOOL. i think it should be integrated starting from gradeschool, but i think parents should be more open with their kids at an earlier age too. it's not just the school's job. from researching in this subject, i found that there was a lot of correlation between countries that had strict censorhip laws, to a higher sex crime rate. and most sex offenders came from a very religious background, where sex was condemned and they were very sheltered to things like porn. i think the more we censor, the more tension society will have towards sex and the only thing we will remain focusing on are the bad things like rape, etc. if we integrate sex to our kids at an earlier age and generally be more open to it, these problems will go away. we need to embrace sexuality. and that includes pornography.
