Welcome to Northeast Ohio. My parents still live in Warren, which is right by Youngstown and about fifteen minutes from the PA border.
I think you'll find alot of things to do - especially with a family. Playhouse Square in Cleveland is second only to New York. You'll almost surely have your own minor league baseball team in the area you live. The Northeast Ohio area is very diverse culturally, lots of soul food, authentic Mexican, good Chinese, etc. If you like to shop, the oulet malls at Grove City (just across the border in PA) are an unbelievable place to spend a few days. The MetroPark system is truely amazing, but you'll be living closer to parks like Nelson Ledges State Park (girlfriend and I just went there a couple weeks ago). Nelson is an old rock quarry converted into a park, and if you have kids that love to climb things, its a must. We have a nicer lake system the the rest of the state, if you like to do that sort of thing, there are many options.
What to pack? I second the knife that clavus suggested. Don't forget to take pictures of your old place! Pictures are a great way to show young ones where they came from.
Make sure you find room for some things that are special to you and your family. You know, the things that really have no value except that they are yours and you love them? Those things. You can't buy those back at WalMart.
Finally, always feel free to pm me if you have any questions about the area or any questions about things to do, things to do with kids, questions about school districts, just anything. I have lived in the area for twenty-five years and I'll be happy to answer your questions.
