I think that it would be difficult to assume that nothing could exist beyond this world. There are so many things that science can't explain. For me the after-life consists of having all of the lingering questions of this life answered at last. I would say these questions are answered by God, or Jesus. Others might say that they would meet Allah, Muhommed, If you believe in Karma, you may come back as something else. Largely I think that there is somthing beyond this world, and maybe we do indeed get the after-life that we wish for.
