For casual riding around my small town and in the country I only wear boots and levis for protection. I do have a full face helmet and a leather jacket if I expect to be in a lot of traffic or at high speeds, and I wear gloves. Around here I seldom see the high side of 55.
Helmets are not required here, Oklahoma, if you are over 18.
