Trying to get money for a gig from a bar owner who didn't want to pay us. He kept smashing this big glass ashtray down on the bar and talking about all the bar partons who were out in the street, just waiting to kick our asses on his word. We were in the tiny backwater town where everyone knew everyone and we didn't know anyone. Felt luck to get out of there with 100 bucks (we were contracted for 500).
A few weeks back I took my Mom into the hospital for a routine outpatient procedure. When it was over 20% of her lung collapsed. Watching her in pain and knowing I couldn't do anything about it was pretty damn scary.
